Evaluations of foreign education credentials are used for licensing purposes to assess the qualifications of individuals who have completed their education in other countries and are seeking professional licensing or certification in the United States. This process is used to ensure that individuals who have completed their education in other countries meet the same standards as those who have completed their education in the United States.

For licensing purposes, the evaluation process typically includes a review of the individual's education and comparing it to the education and qualifications required for the specific profession in the United States. The evaluation may include a review of the individual's transcripts, diplomas, and other educational documents, as well as any relevant professional certifications.

Based on the evaluation, the individual may be required to complete additional education or training to meet the requirements for the specific profession, or they may be granted a license or certification to practice in the United States. Each State has different requirements and different agencies to evaluate the credentials, so it is important to check with the specific state agency responsible for the profession of interest.

In some cases, professional organizations and licensing boards in the United States may require applicants to pass an exam or have an interview in addition to the Course-by-Course (detailed) evaluation report.

Many licensing boards will require an evaluation of study you have completed outside the United States. Among these are Teaching, Cosmetology, Social Work, Accounting and Acupuncture.

Licensing agencies ussually provide the exact checklist of documents you will need to provide to them in order to obtain a license. In some cases additional non-academic studies need to be evaluated together with academic degrees. Some licensing agencies in addition to Evaluation will also require translations of all documents that are not in English.

Please check with your licensing board for exact requirements.

Globe Language Services confirms the authenticity of foreign academic degrees and determines whether they are equal to a US High School Diploma.  These evaluations can be used for admission to cosmetology programs and to apply for a cosmetology license, in accordance with state requirements.
