Evaluations of foreign education credentials are used for immigration purposes to determine whether an individual's education meets the requirements for certain immigration benefits, such as employment-based visas.

For immigration purposes, the evaluation process typically includes a review of the individual's education and work experience, as well as a comparison of the education and qualifications to those required for the specific immigration benefit. The evaluation may include a review of the individual's transcripts, diplomas, and other educational documents, as well as any relevant work experience and professional certifications.

In some cases, the employer may sponsor the employee for the immigration benefit, and in that case the employer may have to provide a Labor certification and the employee may have to go through a process called PERM. In this process, the employee's qualifications are compared to the requirements for the job and the educational requirements for the job and the educational requirements for the profession in the United States.

One of the most common immigration benefits that require evaluation of foreign education credentials is the EB-2 and EB-3 employment-based visas. They require at least a Bachelor’s degree or its equivalent.

Another use of evaluations of foreign education credentials for immigration is for the EB-1A visa category, which is for individuals with extraordinary ability in the sciences, arts, education, business, or athletics. This category requires individuals to have a degree, diploma, certificate, or similar award from a college, university, school, or other institution of learning relating to the area of exceptional ability.

It is important to note that the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) have the final decision on whether an individual's education meets the requirements for a specific immigration benefit, and may request additional information or documentation to support the evaluation.  Immigration process can be complex and it's recommended to consult with an immigration attorney before requesting an evaluation of foreign credentials.

Evaluations may be used for H1-B, EB-3, TN and I-140 visas.

Degree Evaluations:

These degrees show the US equivalency of each foreign qualification, indicate the field of study, show that the university study is “post-secondary” (as per USCIS requirements) and note that the school is an accredited institution of higher education.

Work Experience Evaluations:

Education and work experience are combined to show equivalency to a US bachelor’s degree (Three for One rule) or Master’s Degree (5 Year Rule).
